Smithville Diamonds follows Little League rules except where noted in the rule addendums for each league. (see bottom of page for other important items to review for league tourney)
Judgment calls made by umpires cannot be protested (i.e. in or out of baseline, infield fly, interference, obstruction, etc.). However, where runners go on a delayed dead ball, interference situation can be protested/discussed - refer to the proper league rule book (LL baseball or LL softball). League rules clarifications can be made with the board member on duty, ie:
End of Season League Tournament - Important Items
The following are a few items that need to be fully understood going into the season-ending tournament. Please take a few minutes to review and understand these items as they apply to you and your league.
Championship games have no time limits. Championship games are any games that can decide a champion (i.e. the "first champ game" and the "if necessary" champ game, if played). In some leagues, there could possibly be two championship games with no time limits, back to back.
If a game ends in a tie (regulation innings or time limit reached for non-champ games), then the game must be played until a winner is declared. Normal rules apply, no "California" rule or other modification will be played.
Mercy rules for each league still apply. They are different from league to league, so let's make sure that we as coaches and umpires are clear on these. This is a simple thing to lookup ( in your league rules posted above). We need to be clear on these for the tourney. When in doubt, ask the board member on duty for clarification.
Practice moratorium - No team practice once the June league tournament starts.
